VSI Alliance is now officially
represented by ECSI in Europe.
The ECSI Executive Committee agreed on the proposal: having a
first agreement between ECSI and VSI Alliance, with ECSI supporting
VSI Alliance in Europe, and asked the ECSI Director to continue
his work with Stan Baker in order to workout a contract with the
Chairman of VSI Alliance. Jean Mermet had several meetings with
VSI Alliance, and a contract is up to be signed. As you know from
our last ECSI Letter Adam Morawiec is our technical representative
for VSI Alliance, and work is progressing very quickly.
A good relation and an active contribution to VSI Alliance is
very important for the European companies, and ECSI can help the
Europeans in building an accepted partnership with the VSI Alliance.
VSI Alliance is intended to be not only an American organisation,
but a world-wide, and, the vision of this group is important for
the Europeans, too: the VSI Alliance has the goal of accelerating
design re-use of Virtual Components through the specification
or recommendation of a set of hardware and software inter-faces,
formats and design practices.

The VSI Alliance Development Working Groups cover activities
where Europeans can also be active because of the importance of
the solutions for our companies. The list of the DWGs and the
responsible persons are included in Adam's article in the last
ECSI Letter. An update is provided hereafter. What could ECSI
do? First, we can channel the contribution of the European partners
in the direction to VSI Alliance, second, we can be the information
platform for our European partners, third, we can promote to use
the results within the design work of the European companies.
But, this need your active participation!
